Happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day!

Say Whaaaat? by Angela Durst, 2023
Ahoy there mateys, happy Talk Like a Pirate Day! Back in the bygone years of 1995 Ol’ Chumbucket (John Baur) and Cap’n Slappy (Mark Summers) went and created a whole holiday known ‘round the world as International Talk Like a Pirate Day. T’is a day to cut loose, be a tad silly, and sing sea shanties with yer crew. I oft wind up watching Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl.

Now here at Cutoff Crafts, we have a fair haul of loot that ships out of our lovely harbour.

Ahsoka crafted this here Dumbo Octopus. He doesn’t seem to be the happiest feller but he sure is cuddly. Made out of the finest Parfait yarn and stuffed full of fiberfill this chunky little guy is extremely soft and snuggly. Dumbo Octopus are real creatures that dwell 13,000 feet below the surface. That’s 2,166 fathoms!

For those who need a fresh set of knucklebones, our Ocean Wave Dice are sure to please the saltiest of seadogs. The beautiful translucent resin captures the surging surf as the tide rolls in. Sharp gold numerals contrast nicely with the green waves and make them very easy to read.

In the wee hours of the night Michelle created these ocean inspired earrings. Each chainmail ring is closed one at a time by hand. Constructed out of anodized aluminium, these earrings are extremely lightweight which makes them perfect for people who are sensitive to heavier earrings. The brilliant cobalt and deep marine blue contrast well with the shimmering silver. They are fit for a party hosted by Davy Jones himself.

Oceans cover over 70% of the surface of planet Earth. If ye love our beautiful seas take a looksie over at Ocean Conservancy. They are a dedicated nonprofit organization tackling all types of cleanups to keep our blue waters fair for smooth sailing. In 51 years Ocean Conservancy has helped 17 million volunteers collect more than 350,000,000 pounds of trash out of our waters (https://oceanconservancy.org/trash-free-seas/international-coastal-cleanup/). All of us together can help keep our waters clean.
